Mike Flanagan on Mark Hamill’s Carrie cameo Mike Flanagan detailed how Mark Hamill landed his cameo in the Prime Video series Carrie during an interview with ScreenRant. The creator revealed that Hamill’s appearance in the show’s sixth episode stemmed from their established friendship and prior collaborations. Flanagan noted that the Star Wars icon eagerly accepted the role with minimal conditions. Hamill requested a low-key involvement in the Stephen King adaptation. He wanted to “be somewhat unrecognizable” and asked the team not to make it “a big deal.” Flanagan happily obliged, praising the actor’s character in the process. “He’s one of my favorite humans. They say don’t meet your heroes in this business, and it’s true, but I think the exception to that is Mark Hamill,” Flanagan said. He added that Hamill “has always, always, in my experience, just been everything you want him to be and more.” Many crew members who previously worked with Hamill on The Fall of the House of Usher reunited with the actor on set. Flanagan described the visit as “a little homecoming,” noting that many crew members were thrilled to see him again. Hamill filmed his scenes in just half a day. Hamill plays Greg McMurray in the episode, a con artist who poses as a psychic named Damon Nostra. The character gains fame through a telephone hotline and TV show before someone exposes his fraudulent nature. Carrie marks Flanagan and Hamill’s third collaboration following The Fall of the House of Usher and The Life of Chuck. Beyond his work with Flanagan, the role also represents Hamill’s third Stephen King adaptation in recent years. He previously earned positive reviews for his portrayal of the Major in The Long Walk. Flanagan continues to develop additional King projects, including The Mist film and The Dark Tower series.
