Has anyone else's family stopped watching anything together?

I've got a wife and two kids, one teen and one adult. About a year ago it hit me that we don't watch any TV as a household any more (the odd movie if I am lucky). Everyone's in their own room, on their own screen, watching their own thing. I genuinely don't think we've watched a TV show together unless huddled around Bluey when they could barely speak counts. Picking a TV show commitment for four people of adult/almost adult age feels impossible. I mean it's great we are in a period where everyone can have their own device and can actually watch what they want to watch but I miss the 80s/90s where although you may watch things you are 100% on, you were together as a family watching them. So is the household TV show dead, or do some of you still manage it? Which character's flanderization (getting reduced to one exaggerated trait over the show's run) actually worked out for the better?

For me, it's Ross from Friends. Early seasons he's basically just mopey and Rachel-pining, but by the later seasons he's full slapstick lunatic! He's sedated over a sandwich, and created paste pants, to name a few endeavors. That version of Ross is way more fun to watch than sad-sack Ross. I thought Neagley was going to be a cheap and cynical knock-off of Reacher, but it's actually...pretty good?

To me it feels like Reacher Season 3 - not the best but not the worst. It feels like they tried to distill the formula of Reacher and just largely paste it onto a new set of characters, with the exception of: the focus is shared between two protagonists, and the main protagonist doesn't bed a hot woman. It's retained of bit of the annoying elements of later seasons, like having scenes end with a close-up shot of Neagley saying a cheesy one-liner, but it's got an original plot, and the tension and atmosphere are comparable to the original series. Also: I recently re-watched Season 1 of Reacher and wow was it a different show. I didn't noticed the creeping change across seasons. Reacher of Season 4 feels like a robot compared to the hot-headed character of Season 1. Also, Roscoe was the best counterpart of the series. Wait a minute, the last season of Futurama is already finished airing by next week? Where was the buzz?

I had no idea the last season of Futurama even came out yet. I just looked up online and apparently the new season/series (?) finale is next week. They have a set of movies/specials planned for 2027, but apparently this is the last normal season again. I had no idea the last 10 episodes even started airing, nobody is even talking about them. Will Apple TV ever find the courage to finally release “The Savant?”

In August of last year, Apple TV (then Apple TV+) released a trailer for its then-upcoming miniseries, The Savant. The show was set to debut on September 26, 2025 and conclude on November 7. Starring Academy Award winner Jessica Chastain, Wikipedia summarizes The Savant thusly: The series is inspired by a true-life story titled "Is It Possible to Stop a Mass Shooting Before It Happens?" which featured in Cosmopolitan in August 2019 of a woman who has come to be known as "the Savant" who infiltrates online hate groups in order to prevent large-scale public attacks. It covers the division of the Anti-Defamation League that infiltrates online hate groups. On September 23, 2025, in the wake of the assassination of Charlie Kirk, Apple announced they were postponing The Savant. They didn’t give a reason or provide a new premiere date, and that was that. Obviously, the people who made the series — including Chastain — were not happy about the decision, which was largely criticized as cowardly. It’s been a year now, and not a peep from Apple on the show. Is this thing going to languish in the vaults forever? This is the same company that capitulated to the regime’s “Gulf of America” and “Lake America” horseshit, so my hopes aren’t high. This episode is my favorite of the series. My uncle & I accidentally stumbled onto this TV show when I was about 10 years old in 1997. In my area, at that time, the show was on weeknights at 11:30 PM on PBS station KCPT-TV, Ch. 19 in Kansas City, MO.
