Which character's flanderization (getting reduced to one exaggerated trait over the show's run) actually worked out for the better?

For me, it's Ross from Friends. Early seasons he's basically just mopey and Rachel-pining, but by the later seasons he's full slapstick lunatic! He's sedated over a sandwich, and created paste pants, to name a few endeavors. That version of Ross is way more fun to watch than sad-sack Ross.
