Street Fighter Star Joins Michael B. Jordan & Austin Butler in Miami Vice ’85

Jordan and Austin Butler, has added a comedian-turned-actor with a rapidly expanding filmography to its ranks. Andrew Schulz cast in Miami Vice ’85 Andrew Schulz will appear in Miami Vice ’85, the Joseph Kosinski movie headlined by Michael B. Jordan as Ricardo Tubbs and Austin Butler as James “Sonny” Crockett, as per Deadline. Schulz enters a cast that also features John Leguizamo as the film’s primary antagonist, alongside Whitney Peak, Alden Ehrenreich, Camila Morrone, and Danny Ramirez. Dan Gilroy wrote the screenplay for Miami Vice ’85, which takes inspiration from the pilot episode of the 1984-90 NBC series. The film explores the glamour and corruption of mid-1980s Miami in a new take on the franchise. Eric Warren Singer penned an earlier draft. Anthony Yerkovich created the original characters for the series he executive-produced with Michael Mann. Kosinski directs and produces through Dylan Clark Productions alongside Dylan Clark. Sara Scott, EVP of Production Development and Christina Hoffrogge, Creative Executive of Production Development, oversee the project for Universal. Universal plans to shoot Miami Vice ’85 for IMAX, with production starting this year. The studio has set a release date of May 19, 2028. Andrew Schulz has seen his acting career accelerate significantly. He will appear in the upcoming live-action Street Fighter adaptation. His other credits include Netflix’s Tires, MGM’s Underdoggs with Snoop Dogg, The Thicket opposite Peter Dinklage, Netflix’s You People with Eddie Murphy and Jonah Hill, and White Men Can’t Jump alongside Jack Harlow. He recently finished filming the Apple sports movie Running. The comedian also completed his sold-out global Life Tour. The arena run featured back-to-back sellouts at Madison Square Garden, Los Angeles’ Kia Forum and Crypto.com Arena, and two nights at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena. He performed at more than 70 arenas and theaters across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Australia.
