While promoting the film with costar Jay Duplass, Chastain recounted the strange texts that flooded her phone once it reached the public. I saw the trailer and I was like, oh good, they put the kitchen scene in there, you know, and just didn’t think much of it. And then I just started getting all these texts from people who were going to see The Odyssey and really just shocked. Watching the trailer, he realized how much she carried alone. “Honestly, when I saw the trailer, I was, you know, because most of our scenes are you and me in a family dynamic. And I saw the trailer and I was like, man, Jessica was working super hard in Ireland back then. I was like, all these scenes without me… I’m like, my God, just flying all over the place, scaring the crap out of people… Yeah, it was a lot.” The final Other Mommy trailer delivers relentless horror imagery. Chastain pulls double duty as both a mother and the supernatural entity wearing her face. The creature, nicknamed Other Mommy, torments her young daughter Bella at every turn. Based on Josh Malerman’s novel, Incidents Around the House, the film stars Jay Duplass and Arabella Olivia Clark alongside Chastain. Nathan Elston wrote the adaptation, while Rob Savage directed it.
