Schulz enters a cast that also features John Leguizamo as the film’s primary antagonist, alongside Whitney Peak, Alden Ehrenreich, Camila Morrone, and Danny Ramirez. Dan Gilroy wrote the screenplay for Miami Vice ’85, which takes inspiration from the pilot episode of the 1984-90 NBC series. The film explores the glamour and corruption of mid-1980s Miami in a new take on the franchise. Eric Warren Singer penned an earlier draft. Anthony Yerkovich created the original characters for the series he executive-produced with Michael Mann. Kosinski directs and produces through Dylan Clark Productions alongside Dylan Clark. Sara Scott, EVP of Production Development and Christina Hoffrogge, Creative Executive of Production Development, oversee the project for Universal. Universal plans to shoot Miami Vice ’85 for IMAX, with production starting this year. The studio has set a release date of May 19, 2028.
