‘Touch not my anointed applies to false accusations’ — Mary Njoku tells pastors

Nollywood actress Mary Njoku has told pastors to take responsibility for their words and actions instead of invoking “Touch not my anointed” when they face criticism. Njoku made the statement in a post shared on her social media page, saying the biblical phrase should apply when someone is falsely accusing, lying against or deliberately trying to harm a pastor. “Touch not my anointed applies when someone is falsely accusing you, lying against you, or deliberately trying to harm you,” she wrote. She said pastors should not blame people who accurately recount what they have said or done publicly when such accounts attract criticism. “When someone gives an accurate account of what you said or did publicly, and it is causing you harm, Brethren, the problem isn’t the storyteller. The problem is what you said or did,” Njoku said. She urged pastors to own their words and actions, apologise when necessary and explain themselves where there is additional context. “Take responsibility for it. Own your words. Own your actions. Reflect on them, apologise if necessary, explain yourself if there is context, and move on,” she added. Njoku also reminded pastors that nobody is above mistakes. “Nobody is perfect.
