The Mayor of Kingstown creators secured a surprising new home for the series across multiple regions worldwide. He brokers deals between street gangs, inmates, correctional officers, and law enforcement agencies. Sheridan and Hugh Dillon co-created the show, which explores systemic racism and institutional corruption. Two-time Oscar winner Dianne Wiest plays the family matriarch Mariam McLusky in the series. The supporting cast features Hugh Dillon, Tobi Bamtefa, Taylor Handley, Emma Laird, and Aidan Gillen. Sheridan built his reputation through the Yellowstone franchise, Tulsa King, and Special Ops: Lioness. The creator recently signed an overall deal with Universal after departing Paramount. Netflix secured Mayor of Kingstown through a broader Paramount licensing agreement struck earlier this year. The streamer previously added Paramount’s military drama SEAL Team to its library in August 2026. Both titles follow an identical global distribution strategy across numerous territories. Licensing terms remain undisclosed, though similar arrangements typically last between one and three years. Sheridan had earlier explored moving his overall deal to Netflix before ultimately choosing Universal. Netflix currently holds Yellowstone licensing rights in several international markets already.
