The presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, and Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has said the failure of states to receive their share of Nigeria LNG, NLNG, dividends is hindering development planning and infrastructure investment across the federation. Makinde said the delay had dealt a major setback to subnational development, forcing states to put some planned infrastructure projects on hold. He made the remarks on Friday at the 2027 budget stakeholders’ consultative engagement held in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. Speaking at the event, Makinde said each state was entitled to ₦250 billion from the NLNG dividends but regretted that the funds had been withheld until after the 2027 general elections. He said the delay had affected the implementation of projects identified to expand Oyo State’s economy and improve infrastructure. Makinde said, “Each state was supposed to get ₦250 billion. We had already identified projects that would expand Oyo State’s economy. “But they have now said the money will not be paid until after the election. NPFL: Shooting Stars end winless run with victory over Ranchers Bees

Navy recovers 114,500 litres of petroleum products, arrests 10 drug suspects

Five persons have been arrested in connection with the abduction of 20 National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, members in Imo State. According to TVC, the suspects were arrested through a joint operation by the military, the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police Force. The 20 abducted corps members recently regained their freedom after spending some days in captivity. The victims were abducted while travelling through the state, prompting security agencies to launch an operation to locate and rescue them. TVC reports that a security source described the arrests as a major relief, noting that security agencies had sustained a wide-ranging manhunt for the abductors. “This is a huge sigh of relief. Security agencies have been on a manhunt for the abductors, and we are elated that they have been captured. “We strongly believe they will be charged to court by DSS and the corps members will get justice,” the source said.
