BAGANBAZAR GRAPHSource-attributed newsWORLD deskSaudi Arabia has reported that at least 12 people were killed and 309 others injured in an attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, the country’s capital. The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) disclosed the casualties in a statement issued on Saturday, following the attack. According to the authority, the deceased comprised four Saudi nationals, two Bangladeshis, and one national each from the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Palestine and Sudan. “The injured are receiving medical care in hospitals, with some in critical condition,” the authority said, adding that officials were assessing the extent of the damage caused by the attack. Airport operations were temporarily suspended as emergency teams assessed the damage and conducted safety checks on the facilities. The Saudi-led coalition fighting in Yemen blamed the Houthi movement for the attack, which reportedly targeted a passenger terminal at the airport. Coalition spokesman Turki al-Maliki described the incident as a violation of international humanitarian law and vowed a firm response. “The Joint Forces Command will respond firmly to this terrorist attack in accordance with international humanitarian law,” he said. The incident comes amid escalating hostilities between Saudi Arabia and the Iran-backed Houthi movement in Yemen, with airports and other infrastructure reportedly among the targets of recent strikes. BAGANBAZAR GRAPHSource-attributed newsWORLD deskAmnesty International has condemned an alleged attack on supporters of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) who gathered at Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu State to welcome the party’s governorship candidate, Christian Chinyeaka Ohaa. In a statement on it’s verified Facebook account, the human rights organisation expressed concern over reports that the supporters were attacked, with viral videos circulating online showing people fleeing the scene amid allegations of gunfire and tear gas. “Amnesty International strongly condemns ruthless attack on supporters of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) that gathered at Akanu Ibiam International Airport Enugu to welcome the party’s governorship candidate in the state, Christian Chinyeaka Ohaa,” the organisation said. Some supporters alleged that they were shot at and tear-gassed as they fled the scene, while others accused security operatives of watching as the incident unfolded. Videos shared online reportedly showed some people with their clothes soaked in blood, while several supporters were said to have sustained injuries. Amnesty International said the incident was part of a troubling pattern of attacks targeting opposition members in different parts of Nigeria. The organisation warned that repeated attacks and intimidation could undermine political participation and restrict the ability of opposition groups to assemble peacefully. “Such repeated attacks and intimidation against opposition figures could make it more difficult for them to associate freely and hold public gatherings,” it said. The organisation’s condemnation highlights concerns over the safety of political supporters and the protection of freedom of association and peaceful assembly in Nigeria. BAGANBAZAR GRAPHSource-attributed newsWORLD deskAmnesty International has called on the Imo State Government and police authorities to implement a coroner’s recommendations into the death of 32-year-old Japheth Njoku in police custody at Tiger Base, Owerri. The organisation made the call in a statement dated October 10, 2026, following the findings delivered on September 30 by Chief Magistrate E. U. Chinaka of the Chief Magistrate’s Court, Owerri, who sat as a coroner to investigate Njoku’s death. Amnesty International urged the Attorney-General of Imo State, the Inspector-General of Police, the Police Service Commission and the Commissioner of Police in the state to implement the recommendations promptly, prosecute anyone found to have criminal responsibility where sufficient evidence exists, and provide adequate compensation and reparation to Njoku’s family. It also called for an independent investigation into reported attempts to obstruct the court-ordered autopsy and intimidate witnesses. The coroner found that Njoku had been detained for about six weeks over an allegation of stealing, which Amnesty described as a bailable offence. According to the findings, demands for money and the inhuman conditions under which he was detained contributed to the deterioration of his health and eventual death. “Japheth Njoku entered police custody alive. His death demands truth, justice and accountability,” Amnesty International said. The organisation added that Njoku’s family was entitled to an effective remedy and insisted that anyone found responsible for his death must be held accountable. Amnesty International said the findings reinforced its concerns about alleged human rights violations at Tiger Base, including arbitrary detention, torture and other ill-treatment, extortion and deaths in custody. “The organisation calls
