The command disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday, 27 September, 2026, by its spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh. The statement said the incident occurred at about 6:30am on Sunday, September 27, 2026, after the Command received a distress call from a resident reporting a fire outbreak at a cooking gas plant. According to the Police, officers from the Kubwa Police Division were immediately deployed to the scene, where they found the fire had spread to nearby shops and other properties. The Police said the Federal Fire Service was contacted and responded to the scene, helping to contain the inferno. Preliminary investigations revealed that the driver of an unregistered Toyota 4Runner Jeep was allegedly driving against traffic when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the gas plant. “The driver and occupants of the vehicle fled the scene immediately,” the Police said in a statement issued by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh. The Command said it had established the identity of the driver and launched a manhunt to apprehend him. “While the Command is currently on the trail of the erring driver, having established his identity, the fire has been contained and no casualties have been recorded,” the statement said. The Police added that the full value of property destroyed in the incident was yet to be determined. According to him, the visit followed almost a year of efforts to build the party and address some of its challenges. The former Bayelsa state governor expressed gratitude to the diaspora executives for their support, urging them to intensify their activities and mobilise eligible voters ahead of the elections. “After almost a year building the NDC and resolving its challenges, I decided to embark on a one-week working visit to Europe,” Dickson said. The party leaders called on the NDC members in the diaspora to organise themselves, especially those registered to vote, and participate actively in the electoral process.
