BAGANBAZAR GRAPHSource-attributed newsWORLD deskFormer Kaduna Central Senator Shehu Sani has accused supporters of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, of smearing Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso following their political separation. Sani was reacting to a recent statement by the ADC accusing Kwankwaso of supporting Obi out of personal ambition and working for President Bola Tinubu. In a post on his X handle, Sani said the criticism of the two politicians, including allegations that they were working for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) or Tinubu, stemmed from bitterness over their political split. “The ADC guys are still bitter about the Peter and Kwankwaso divorce, hence the smear that they are working for the ruling party or the President,” he wrote. He argued that both politicians had established independent political records and were entitled to make their own political choices. “No consideration to the fact that they are all accomplished politicians with their own independent track records, and have the right to associate and disassociate,” Sani added. According to him, the criticism was a consequence of the politicians’ refusal to be used for the political interests of others. “This is the price they will continue to pay for refusing to be supplementary, and disposable cargoes in someone’s container. “They wanted to use them and sacrifice them for ritual in their perennial political expeditions. Political parties shouldn’t be cultish groups where one can’t pull out in peace,” he said. ADC supporters bitter over Obi, Kwankwaso’s ‘divorce’ — Shehu Sani

The troops launched a pursuit, tracking the fleeing suspects through Gangare Village towards Kamba Village, where they caught up with them at approximately 6:05 pm. “The soldiers engaged the suspected terrorists with superior firepower, forcing them to abandon the captives and flee in disarray into the surrounding bushes,” the sources said. Following the encounter, the troops combed the area and recovered all 27 abductees, comprising 15 males and 12 females, including the infant. The rescued individuals were subsequently handed over to the Gamji village head, Alhaji Falalu Suleiman, after preliminary investigations. According to the sources, no soldier was killed or injured during the operation, although the number of casualties among the fleeing suspects could not be established. The military has sustained patrols across the area to deter further attacks, restrict the movement of suspected terrorists and protect local communities. The operation highlights the importance of prompt information from residents and swift military action in efforts to curb kidnapping and insecurity ac
BAGANBAZAR GRAPHSource-attributed newsWORLD deskThe Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested Faisal Abdulrasheed Maina, the fugitive son of former Pension Reform Task Team chairman Abdulrasheed Maina, and handed him over to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). According to security sources cited by Zagazola Makama, Faisal was arrested by DSS operatives in the Karsana area of Abuja after reportedly returning to Nigeria secretly. “His arrest followed credible intelligence which indicated that Faisal had secretly returned to the country,” a security source said. Faisal had reportedly been on the run since 2020 after facing prosecution by the EFCC on a three-count charge bordering on money laundering and conspiracy. He was accused of violating his bail conditions and fleeing the country while his trial was ongoing. The trial subsequently continued in his absence, leading to his conviction and sentencing to 14 years’ imprisonment by Justice Okon Abang in 2021. The court had ordered that Faisal be arrested wherever he was found in Nigeria and remanded in a correctional centre to serve his sentence. It also directed the Federal Government to take lawful steps to secure his extradition if he was found outside the country. “The handover of Faisal to the EFCC is expected to facilitate the enforcement of the court’s judgment and ensure that he serves his sentence in accordance with the law,” another security source said.
