The Senate Press Corps, SPC, will hold its 2026 capacity-building workshop on Monday, September 28, focusing on how legislative oversight and media collaboration can stop unlawful insertions in the national budget. The Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu; Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) Executive Director, Auwal Rafsanjani; BudgIT Director, Oluseun Onigbinde; and Publisher of Eagle Times, Ikechukwu Chukwunyere, will make presentations at the workshop. There will also be intensive training on Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to be facilitated by London-based instructors from Mass Media TX Limited to expose journalists to emerging technologies. Key stakeholders invited include Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Yemi Adaramodu, Chairman of the Appropriations Committee, Olamilekan Adeola, Chairman of the Finance Committee, Sani Musa, Chairman of the Petroleum (Downstream) Committee, Kawu Sumaila, and Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana. Police finally identify officer who said Igbo man can never be president

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested its officer who in a viral video said the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate, Peter Obi, or any other Igbo man can never be Nigerian President. A statement by the command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, identified the officer as Osumah Frank. Recall that the officer was filmed saying that Peter Obi or any Igbo person can never become President of Nigeria. The police spokesperson said the command has begun appropriate disciplinary action against the officer in line with the established regulations of the Nigeria Police Force. According to her, the remarks made by the officer were made in his personal capacity and do not represent the position, views or official disposition of the Lagos State Police Command or the Nigeria Police Force. UNGA 81: Tinubu gone from front seat role to housekeeper in France – Atiku’s aide

Paul Ibe, a media aide to the African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, on Friday, mocked President Bola Tinubu over his absence at the ongoing 81st United Nations General Assembly, UNGA, in New York. Ibe said Tinubu has gone from a reported front seat role at UNGA to a housekeeper role in France. While Vice President Kashim Shettima is representing Nigeria at the ongoing UNGA, Tinubu is engaged in an extended working vacation in France. Defending Tinubu’s absence at UNGA, Nigeria’s Permanent Representatives at the UN, Jimoh Ibrahim explained that the president can’t attend UNGA and speak for just 15 minutes. Ibrahim said most of the speakers on the speaking list are vice presidents and foreign affairs ministers. Reacting, Ibe said Tinubu has become the greatest demarketer of Nigeria abroad.
