The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate in Ogun State, Oladipupo Adebutu, has promised to create a Border Communities Development Commission to address years of neglect in Ogun West if elected governor in 2027. Adebutu made the promise in Ipokia during the flag-off of his campaign in Ogun West Senatorial District. He said communities along the border corridor have suffered abandonment, lacking basic amenities such as motorable roads, clean water and functional health facilities, despite their economic importance. “I am standing here in Ipokia to promise you a Border Communities Development Commission. Enough of this abandonment. Our traders and rural dwellers have been left behind for too long,” he said. The PDP flagbearer said his administration would correct the imbalance by granting full autonomy to local governments and ensuring funds meant for grassroots development get to the councils directly. He also pledged transparent governance, prompt payment of pensions, settlement of workers’ outstanding entitlements and an end to irregularities in cooperative deductions. Adebutu cautioned voters against vote-buying, urging them to look beyond monetary inducement and vote for change. “Those who failed you will return with empty promises and cash. Police arrest 17-year-old over alleged defilement of 3-year-old girl in Oyo

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 17-year-old male suspect, Usman Dauda, over the alleged defilement of a three-year-old girl in Saki area of the state. A statement by the command said the arrest followed a distress report lodged at the Saki Divisional Police Station on September 17, 2026, at about 6:00 p.m., after the child went missing while she was being picked up from school earlier that afternoon. Following the report, a local search was conducted, leading to the recovery of the child by the roadside in a distressed condition. Preliminary inquiries indicated that the suspect had allegedly forcibly taken the child into his apartment, where he allegedly committed the offence. Following the discovery, detectives visited and secured the scene of the alleged crime. The operation led to the immediate arrest of Dauda and the recovery of critical physical evidence linked to the alleged offence. “While investigations were immediately activated, the young survivor was promptly rushed to a medical facility in Saki, where she is currently receiving comprehensive clinical treatment and psychotherapeutic care,” the statement noted. The Oyo State Police Command said it would maintain its zero-tolerance policy against child abuse and sexual violence. The command also said it would protect the privacy, dignity and identity of the survivor and her family in line with the Child Rights Act and ethical guidelines. According to the command, the case has been transferred to the Gender Desk of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Iyaganku, Ibadan, for further investigation and prosecution. Navy declares Delta man wanted over alleged crude oil theft, extortion

The Nigerian Navy has declared Joseph Edesemi Boson wanted over alleged involvement in crude oil theft and extortion activities. The Navy, in a notice signed by the Director of Naval Information, Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, said Boson is an indigene of Edegbene in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State. According to the notice, his last known address is around Leadwort Hotel, Obirikwere, off Airport Road, near the Obirikwere Flyover, Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The Navy urged members of the public with useful information about his whereabouts to report to the nearest Nigerian Navy unit, police station or any other security agency.
