Gwalior Vijayadashami 2026: Madhya Pradesh Assembly Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar performed Shastra Puja at the police armoury in DRP Line, Gwalior, on Vijayadashami. The ceremony was held with Vedic chants and traditional rituals. Celebratory firing was cancelled in view of the recent road accident near Sheetla Mata temple in Gwalior.Tomar offered prayers during the yagna, performed the weapon worship rituals and extended Vijayadashami greetings to the people of Madhya Pradesh.Assembly speaker said Vijayadashami holds special significance in Indian culture as it symbolises the victory of truth over falsehood and the worship of divine power. He prayed for the country's continued strength, prosperity and success.The Gwalior Shastra Puja ceremony was attended by public representatives and senior officials, including Mahendra Yadav, Madhusudan Singh Bhadoria, Ashok Jadon, BJP district president Jaiprakash Rajoria and former MLA Rambaran Gurjar.Divisional Commissioner Manoj Khatri, Collector Ruchika Chauhan and Senior Superintendent of Police Dharmveer Singh also participated. JAMB lists Armed Forces medical college on admission portal

The Armed Forces College of Medicine and Health Sciences, AFCOM-HS, has been listed on the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, portal for the 2026/2027 academic session ahead of the admission of its first 100 cadets.The Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa, announced the development in a statement issued by the Federal Ministry of Education on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, describing the listing as a milestone in efforts to strengthen military healthcare and train specialised medical personnel.Located within the 68 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Yaba, Lagos, the college has secured National Universities Commission approval to offer Medicine and Surgery and Nursing Science.Alausa said the institution would train doctors, nurses and other health professionals to address critical medical manpower needs in the Armed Forces.He said the college would combine medical education with military officer training, equipping cadets with clinical competence, professional ethics and leadership skills.The minister commended the Ministry of Defence, Armed Forces leadership, the technical working group and relevant professional regulatory bodies for their roles in establishing the college.He also reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to academic oversight and quality assurance as the institution prepares to admit its pioneer cohort.JAMB lists Armed Forces medical college on admission portal

Ex-Aviation Tenders Board chairman, secretary not on trial over N1.4bn contract - EFCC witness

A witness of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Christopher Odofin, admitted on Tuesday at the FCT High Court that the former Chairman of the Tenders Board of the Federal Ministry of Aviation, Abel Enitan, who awarded the contract for the expansion of the Katsina Airport Apron Extension, was not put on trial by the anti-graft agency.Enitan was the Permanent Secretary of the Aviation ministry at the time the contract was awarded to Al-Buraq Global Investment Ltd by the Federal Government.The witness made this known to the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory where a former Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, is being prosecuted by the EFCC on alleged abuse of office in the award of contacts.The witness who was cross examined by Efut Okoi, counsel to the 2nd defendant, Fatima Hadi Sirika, also admitted that the Director of Public Procurement, Musa Odiniya, who cleared the award of the contract, was also not put on trial by the anti-graft agency.He admitted that the permanent secretary and director of procurement are both not standing trial, even though they are responsible for all matters of procurement and the contract award.Okoi had asked the EFCC witness whether the chairman of the Tenders Board, who signed the contract paper and the director of procurement, who endorsed the process of the contract award, were facing trial for any wrongdoing in respect of the contract in any court in the country.In response, the witness admitted that the two top government officials at the time the disputed contract was awarded were not put on trial.Answering another question, the witness admitted that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, now operates as a commercial entity and that the NNPCL did not file any petition against any of the defenda
