Tinubu can rule Nigeria from anywhere – Presidency insists
The Presidency has insisted that President Bola Tinubu can govern Nigeria from anywhere. A statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga on Sunday said the President did not need to be in Abuja physically to perform his duties, adding that Tinubu is hale and hearty. Onanuga was responding to criticisms about the President’s prolonged vacation after exhausting the official three weeks. Nigerians have expressed concern over the absence of the President who was supposed to return to the country last week. Opposition figures have asked for information on the whereabouts of the President. Responding, Onanuga said, “Nigeria’s President is hale and hearty. He has been on a working vacation, which he is perfectly entitled to. “In this digital age, he does not need to be physically present in Abuja to do the work for which he was elected in 2023. “And we have seen that he has indeed been working, meeting investors in France, most recently facilitating a $7 billion deep-sea port in Ogun Waterside, an initiative of the Ogun State Government.” Tinubu can rule Nigeria from anywhere – Presidency insists

Kubwa explosion: Police reveal cause, launch manhunt for driver
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command says a gas plant fire at Liberty Junction, Byazhin, Kubww in Abuja, was caused by a driver who allegedly drove against traffic and crashed into the facility. The command disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday, 27 September, 2026, by its spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh. The statement said the incident occurred at about 6:30am on Sunday, September 27, 2026, after the Command received a distress call from a resident reporting a fire outbreak at a cooking gas plant. According to the Police, officers from the Kubwa Police Division were immediately deployed to the scene, where they found the fire had spread to nearby shops and other properties. The Police said the Federal Fire Service was contacted and responded to the scene, helping to contain the inferno. Preliminary investigations revealed that the driver of an unregistered Toyota 4Runner Jeep was allegedly driving against traffic when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the gas plant. “The driver and occupants of the vehicle fled the scene immediately,” the Police said in a statement issued by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh. The Command said it had established the identity of the driver and launched a manhunt to apprehend him. “While the Command is currently on the trail of the erring driver, having established his identity, the fire has been contained and no casualties have been recorded,” the statement said. The Police added that the full value of property destroyed in the incident was yet to be determined. Seriake Dickson meets NDC executives in UK, Germany
The national leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Seriake Dickson, has met with the party’s executives in the UK and Germany. Dickson disclosed this in a post on his verified X handle on Sunday, stating that it was his one-week working visit to Europe. He said the visit is part of efforts to boost the party’s structure and deepen the involvement of its members outside Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections. According to him, the visit followed almost a year of efforts to build the party and address some of its challenges. The former Bayelsa state governor expressed gratitude to the diaspora executives for their support, urging them to intensify their activities and mobilise eligible voters ahead of the elections. “After almost a year building the NDC and resolving its challenges, I decided to embark on a one-week working visit to Europe,” Dickson said. The party leaders called on the NDC members in the diaspora to organise themselves, especially those registered to vote, and participate actively in the electoral process. The Bayelsa Senator equally urged the diaspora chapters to hold conferences and conventions, assuring them that he and other members of the party’s leadership would make efforts to attend such gatherings.
