BAGANBAZAR GRAPHSource-attributed newsWORLD deskThe Anglican Bishop of Umuahia Diocese, Bishop Geoffrey Ibeabuchi, has asked political leaders from the South East region to stop attacking the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi. Bishop Ibeabuchi, who was speaking on Saturday during the Diocesan Men’s Conference in Ude Ofeme, Umuahia, warned that attacks on Obi and division among South East leaders could undermine the region’s political interests. The cleric questioned what he described as a consistent pattern of hostility among some Igbo leaders towards Obi, asking what they hoped to achieve by publicly attacking him and allegedly seeking information to implicate him. Drawing a comparison with political developments in other parts of the country, Ibeabuchi said he had not observed what he considered similar levels of public attacks on prominent political figures by Yoruba and Hausa-Fulani leaders. The bishop also criticised the role of Igbo leaders in the proscription of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), arguing that their position contrasted with what he described as the continued freedom of other groups. His remarks reflected concerns about political representation, regional solidarity and the treatment of groups across Nigeria. He urged Igbo leaders who disagreed with Obi’s style of approach to governance to refrain from personal attacks and concentrate on their own responsibilities. “If you don’t like Mr Peter Obi, please keep quiet and mind your own business,” he advised. The Anglican bishop also challenged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deliver credible election results in 2027, warning the Professor Joash Amupitan-led commission to resist political interference and deliver transparent, free and fair polls. He expressed concern over reports of p
BAGANBAZAR GRAPHSource-attributed newsWORLD deskActress Wumi Toriola has told Desola Afod to change to her father’s name if she thinks her ex-husband’s name brings disrespect. Wumi stated this after Desola called out theatre professionals for allegedly disrespecting her by calling her by name. While revealing that she’s 44 years old, Desola, who did not mention a name, said she was recently disrespected at a celebrity gathering. Reacting to the development, Wumi Toriola blasted Desola for attacking theatre professionals instead of calling out the individual she had issues with. While revealing that she had been quiet about Desola’s excesses because of her marriage to a senior colleague, Kunle Afod, Wumi told her to remove Afod from her name and change to her maiden name if she felt disrespected by the name. “If you think that the name Afod is giving you problems and disrespect, you can change to your father’s name or use something else like Desola Kilanko. You did a prior video, and this is a response to it. You saying ‘awon oni theater’ (theatre professionals), I find it very insulting and disrespectful. “If you have issues with anybody, kindly put their names, pictures or mention them in your videos. Saying theatre people, that’s the body that covers what I have worked for and earn from. I will not allow you to disrespect it. If other people from other places are calling us names, then, not from you. “I remember the other time I had issues with one of my colleagues, you put your mouth in it, and I kept quiet because I didn’t want to disrespect your ex-husband at that time. But this is getting too much. If you have an issue with anyone, please call them out. It’s getting unbearable. You’re not the only raze person. I was also born in the same Agege where you claimed you were born. We are all packaging because of fam
