NLO: Abia Comets appoint Ukaiwe new head coach
Abia Comets FC have strengthened their technical crew with the appointment of Ifeanyi Ukaiwe as new head coach. Ukaiwe previously managed Nationwide League One, NLO, side Right2Win. The new tactician was unveiled by the club’s chairman Chief Boniface Alozie Uche at the club house in Umuahia. Ukaiwe will be assisted by Ugochukwu Umunnakwe. The new technical team have been charged with working as a team for the new season. Abia Comets will compete in the NLO next season following their relegation last term. Self-custodial Bitget Wallet was unaffected by exchange security incident- Bitget
Bitget Wallet, a self-custodial wallet, said its systems and users’ self-custodial assets were unaffected by the recent security incident involving Bitget Exchange, following precautionary security checks conducted after the event. The incident involved parts of Bitget Exchange’s hot and warm wallet infrastructure. According to the exchange’s preliminary investigation, attackers compromised a backend system, spoofed transaction data and triggered its authorization process, while a compromise of private keys has so far been ruled out. Those hot and warm wallets are part of the centralized exchange’s operational infrastructure and are controlled by the exchange to process customer transactions. Bitget Wallet uses a different model: as a self-custodial wallet, users control their own wallets and assets remain onchain rather than being held in an exchange-controlled pool. “Our security checks have found no impact on Bitget Wallet’s systems or users’ self-custodied assets,” Bitget Wallet said in its security advisory. The company added that its services remain fully operational. Bitget Wallet was originally launched as BitKeep in 2018 and rebranded as Bitget Wallet in 2023. It has since grown independently as a self-custodial consumer product, reaching more than 100 million users globally in 2026. The clarification comes after some reports referred broadly to the affected infrastructure as “Bitget wallets,” wording that can be confused with the Bitget Wallet product. Bitget Wallet has advised users that no wallet migration or asset transfer is required because of the incident, while warning them to remain alert to phishing and impersonation attempts. Ogun: Police arrest fleeing father who allegedly killed neighbour for hugging his son
The Ogun State Police Command says, it has arrested 43-year-old Edebiri Temitope, who allegedly beat his neighbour to death with a bamboo stick for hugging his son in Bluestone Treasure Estate, Mowe-Ofada area of Ogun State. The deceased, Micheal Oje, 38, a Guidance and Counselling graduate of Benue State University, was accused of hugging and playing rough with the 3-year-old child on August 26. According to Peter Adum, a younger cousin to the deceased, Micheal had just returned from work and the child who lived with them on the same street, ran towards him and hugged him. He stated that Michael hugged the boy and threw him playfully in the air and caught him, before going into his room to sleep. Adum said, “While he was sleeping, Adebiri, the father of the boy, came outside and knocked on his door. When Mike came out, the man accused him of playing roughly with his child. Mike explained that he had only hugged the boy and lifted him into the air. “That was how the man then started slapping Mike. He picked up a bamboo stick from the ground and hit him about three times. Mike fell and died on the spot.” The suspect was reported to have gone into hiding with his family. However, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi on Friday, said the suspect had been arrested and transferred to the State CID, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation. “Edebiri Temitope, ‘M’, aged 43 years, who was earlier reported to be at large, has been arrested in connection with the death of Oje Michael Eje, ‘M’. “The suspect has been transferred to the State CID, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation,” Babaseyi stated.
