Nashik: A disagreement has emerged between the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) and the Congress, both constituents of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), over the allocation of nominated corporator posts in the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC).The Shiv Sena (UBT) has proposed that the Congress be given membership of the Standing Committee for a two-year term instead of a nominated corporator seat. However, the Congress has rejected the proposal, insisting that it should be allotted a nominated corporator seat.Following the municipal elections, the Congress registered as a joint group with the Shiv Sena (UBT). The Shiv Sena (UBT) has 15 elected corporators, while the Congress has three. The joint registration is said to have created additional opportunities for nominated corporator posts. Against this backdrop, the Congress has staked a claim to one of these seats.Shiv Sena (UBT) group leader Keshav Porje said that, at the time of the joint group registration, it was agreed that the second nominated corporator seat would be allocated to the Congress. Nashik: PSI Killed As Speeding Car Rams Police Personnel, Devotees Near Saptashrungi Gad

Nashik: A police sub-inspector was killed when a speeding car rammed into police personnel deployed for traffic management and security arrangements near Nanduri, at the foothills of Saptashrungi Gad, in the early hours of Sunday (Oct 18).Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) Vijay Gaikwad, attached to the traffic branch, died in the accident. More than 11 police personnel and several devotees were also injured.According to reports, a large number of devotees have been visiting the Saptashrungi Gad temple during Navratri. In view of the heavy rush of pilgrims and vehicles, police personnel were deployed at Nanduri to regulate traffic. Barricades had also been installed along the road.Nashik: Parking, Traffic Management Top Agenda At Simhastha Preparation Review A speeding car approaching from the Vani side reportedly went out of control near Abhona Chowk and struck police personnel on duty and several devotees. The impact left multiple people injured.Following the incident, local residents and police personnel rushed to the spot and assisted the injured. They were taken to Vani Rural Hospital for treatment, while those seriously injured were reportedly shifted to Nashik for further medical care.Traffic arrangements were subsequently modified to manage the situation and control the crowd. An investigation is underway to establish the exact cause of the accident, with preliminary reports suggesting that the driver lost control of the vehicle.

NMMC Approves ₹45,000 Diwali Ex-Gratia For 5,121 Employees, ASHA Workers; ₹23 Crore Expenditure Expected

Navi Mumbai: The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has approved an ex-gratia payment of Rs 45,000 each to its officers, employees, teachers, contractual workers and ASHA volunteers ahead of Diwali. The proposal was approved at the general body meeting held on Friday, bringing festive cheer to thousands of civic employees. The decision is expected to cost the civic body around Rs 23 crore.Additional Relief For Contractual WorkersThe general body also cleared the way for contractual workers to receive additional financial assistance of Rs 7,500 after legal hurdles were resolved. The amount will include arrears dating back to June.Leader of the House Sagar Naik moved the proposal for the Rs 45,000 ex-gratia payment, stating that the decision was aimed at ensuring that employees across all categories received equal financial benefits and that no employee was deprived of the festive celebrations. He said the proposal had been brought forward at the initiative of Forest Minister Ganesh Naik. After the discussion, Mayor Sujata Patil announced the approval of the proposal at the general body meeting.Ex-Gratia Amount Increased Over YearsThe ex-gratia amount paid to NMMC employees has increased steadily over the years. In 2019 and earlier, employees received between Rs 23,500 and Rs 27,000. The amount was increased to Rs 34,500 last year. This year, the civic body has decided to raise it further to Rs 45,000. Senior Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) corporator Shivram Patil demanded that the amount be increased to Rs 50,000.The beneficiaries include regular officers and employees, primary and secondary school teachers, kindergarten teachers and assistants, teachers paid on an honorarium basis, hourly-paid teachers, teachers under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, school meal scheme wo
