Avengers: Doomsday Director’s Runtime Update May Surprise Some MCU Fans

Credits: Marvel Studios Avengers: Doomsday co-director Anthony Russo has shared a new update on the film’s length ahead of its December premiere. The movie’s runtime has drawn plenty of fan speculation over the months, and Russo’s comments may not match fans’ expectations. Speaking in a recent interview with Fandango, Anthony Russo said the film is “a two-and-a-half-hour movie.” This would put Doomsday’s runtime at roughly 150 minutes. Avengers: Infinity War had a 149-minute runtime, while Avengers: Endgame ran for 181 minutes in 2019. However, Russo’s comments do not confirm the movie’s final theatrical runtime. Earlier reports placed the film at different lengths, including a 165-minute figure reported ahead of ticket sales and a more recent report claiming a test screening ran with the same length. Rotten Tomatoes currently lists the movie at two hours and 45 minutes. However, it may still change before the film hits theaters. But with Anthony’s comments, it indicates that they are working with a cut closer to two and a half hours.
