He suffered serious head injuries and is undergoing treatment at AIIMS.Police have detained the 23-year-old woman caretaker of the elderly couple, who confessed during questioning that she had conspired with her boyfriend and two other men to rob the house. Police have registered a case including an attempt to murder and are searching for the three accused.ACP Aditi Bhawsar said retired officer Mohan Chaudhary lives in a duplex with his wife and son. His son is pursuing a PhD at MANIT and had left for the institute on Thursday morning.At around 11 am, Chaudhary's wife, who recently underwent hip surgery, was being bathed by the caretaker in a ground-floor bathroom, while the retired officer was bathing on the upper floor. The three accused went directly upstairs and attempted to tie up the elderly man. When he resisted and raised an alarm, one of the accused allegedly hit him on the head with a hammer two or three times, which left him unconscious.Hearing his cries, neighbours rushed to the house and saw the three men fleeing. They found the injured man in the bathroom and took him to AIIMS for treatment.Police detained the caretaker on suspicion. She initially tried to mislead police but later admitted to conspiring with her boyfriend. Similarly, the Urjas app enables consumers to lodge power supply and other complaints quickly and conveniently.The electricity distribution company has strengthened its complaint redressal systems and procedures ahead of and during changing weather conditions and rainfall to minimise inconvenience to consumers. The measures are aimed at ensuring that disruptions in power supply are resolved as quickly as possible.Most supply-related calls received on the company's 1912 call centre are now being handled through the IVR system. Over the past 24 hours, approximately 2,900 supply-related complaint calls were received through IVR from the company's 15 districts.Indore recorded the highest use of the IVR facility, followed by Ujjain and Barwani. To register a complaint, consumers only need to enter their IVRS connection number using the phone keypad. Complaints can be registered within 20 to 25 seconds.Under the IVR system, consumers can press 1 for power supply-related complaints, 2 for billing-related complaints and 3 for meter-related complaints.Meanwhile, 177 consumers sought assistance for power supply-related issues through the Urjas app during the same 24-hour period. The local organising committee met at the Kalidas Sanskrit Academy auditorium on Friday to finalise the festival's outline and programmes.The meeting discussed chief and literary guests for the inaugural and closing ceremonies, cultural programmes, events to be organised by the Kalidas Sanskrit Academy and Samrat Vikramaditya Vishwavidyalaya, and the National Kalidas Painting and Sculpture Exhibition.Rajya Sabha member Balyogi Umeshnath said the Samaroh aims to take the literary thought and reflections of Mahakavi Kalidas to the masses. He stressed giving prominence to Malwa's culture and ancient knowledge traditions and increasing youth participation in the festival.Divisional commissioner and local organising committee vice-chairman Asheesh Singh said efforts should be made to connect the festival with the new generation while enhancing its dignity and prestige.
