Nollywood actress, Damilola Adegbite has claimed that she has noticed a new trend in the Nigerian dating scene, where younger men are increasingly finding older women more attractive. Speaking on her recent podcast, posted on her YouTube channel, Adegbite said society used to make women feel like they should exit the dating scene once they crossed a certain age, but that is now changing, as younger men now prefer older women. Using the biblical analogy of the rejected stone becoming the chief cornerstone, the 41-year-old movie star said older women who were once overlooked have now become the “premium packages.” She said, “When society made older women feel like once we have crossed a certain age, you should basically leave the dating market quietly. Meanwhile, the younger girls were supposedly getting all the attention. But now, the tables are turning. “Honestly, I think Psalm 118:22 was onto something. You know that scripture about the stone which the builders rejected becoming the cornerstone? Maybe we should just say the older woman who was once overlooked has become the premium package. “But seriously, why is this happening? Wike challenges 24-year political legacy of former Rivers leader

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has questioned the political legacy of a former Rivers State leader who spent 24 years in top government positions, challenging residents of Evo Kingdom to identify tangible projects and political empowerment brought to the area during that period. Speaking at an interactive session with leaders and stakeholders of Evo Kingdom in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Wike said leadership should be measured not only by positions held but also by the people empowered and the institutions and projects left behind. He said some politicians become unwilling to support the emergence of new leaders after attaining political power themselves. “Someone was Speaker of the House of Assembly for eight years, Governor for eight years, and Minister for eight years—that is 24 years in top leadership positions! What can anybody point to that he attracted to Evo Kingdom or Rivers State in all those 24 years? Nothing! Not one single thing!” Wike said. The minister contrasted this with his own record, saying he could identify projects he attracted to Rivers State during his time as Minister of State for Education. He also said he no longer has personal political ambitions, having served as governor and minister, adding that his priority is to contribute to the development of his people and support sustainable leadership. “After all, what do I want that God has not given to me? Oyo 2027: PDP candidate, Accord aspirant, 3,000 others join APC

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate for Ibadan North-East State Constituency 2 in the 2027 general elections, Hammed Ademola, and an Accord aspirant for the same constituency, Adedapo Ojo, have defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Oyo State, alongside more than 3,000 supporters. Ademola, popularly known as Lucky, said his decision to leave the PDP was influenced by his assessment of the political situation in the state ahead of the 2027 elections. “I did my due diligence and realised that any ticket outside the APC is a mere tissue paper that cannot take a candidate anywhere in 2027. “We are here in our hundreds to formally join the APC, and we promise to do our best in the interest of the progressive party and our dear country, Nigeria,” Ademola said. Ojo, who was seeking the Accord ticket in the same constituency, also announced his decision to join the APC, describing his previous political efforts with Accord as unproductive. “We thought about making Accord a credible alternative in the state, but we later realised that the APC was far ahead of other parties. “We wasted our time, energy and resources on an unproductive exercise. We later realised it wasn’t worth it, so we decided to pitch our tent with the progressive party,” Ojo said. The defectors were received by the Oyo State Chairman of the APC, Chief Moses Alake-Adeyemo, who assured them that they would have equal opportunities within the party. He also urged the new members to work towards strengthening the party and securing victory in the 2027 general elections.
