Doctors revive donor heart to perform successful transplant in U.S.

For the first time in the U.S., doctors have brought a heart back to life and successfully transplanted it into another person. They used a special device to revive the heart of a 26-year-old donor who died of cardiac arrest on Sunday. The doctors then transported the beating heart from Ohio to Duke University Hospital in North Carolina where surgeons transplanted it into a military veteran. Stone Age chewing gum gives insights into life of young girl

An ancient form of chewing gum is providing new insights into the life of a young girl from the Stone Age. Scientists analyzed genetic material found on a 5,700-year-old piece of heated birch bark in Denmark. The girl had chewed on it before spitting it out. Her DNA was so well preserved, scientists determined she had blue eyes and dark brown hair. They could also tell her most recent meal included duck and hazelnuts.

A secret operation led by specially trained firefighters has saved the last of a rare Dinosaur-era tree species from the Australia bushfires. The Wollemi pine trees, once thought to be extinct, have grown in Australia for over 200 million years and now number less than 200. The mission had to be kept a secret in order to keep the trees' location under wraps due to their fragile nature.
